Hi Everyone,
A stamp set that always make me happy is MFT’s Happy Hedgehogs – it’s just a cute set with so many adorable images and great sentiments! Sadly, it is now retired but I know a lot of you likely have it so I wanted to create a card using it. I love it when crafters use older stamps and give fresh inspiration! Plus, who knows maybe MFT will open the vault and it’ll come back around.
Images
To start, I stamped some of the images from the Happy Hedgehogs stamp sets onto Neenah Solar White, 80 lb, cardstock with Gina K Designs’ Jet Black Amalgam ink and then colored them with Copic markers. Next, I went over the Hedgehogs eyes and noses with a black Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
Background and Supporting Elements
For the background, I die cut an acorn using Sunny Studio’s Nutty for You dies out of Sunny Studio’s Amazing Argyle pattern paper. I adhered the acorn onto another piece of pattern paper from my stash. I love the Fall feeling these pattern paper give.
To create the supporting elements, I die cut several leaves with Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Leaves and Small Stitched Leaves dies using several colors of cardstock from my stash. Once the die cutting was done I inked the edges of the leaves with Pinkfresh Studio’s Candy Apple, Persimmon, and Marigold inks to give them dimension.
Sentiments and Finishing Touches
I created a sentiment using Sunny Studio’s Greetings word die and cutting it out of Sunny Studio’s Amazing Argyle pattern paper along with craft foam which I adhered together. For the second part of the sentiment, I stamped and embossed one of the sentiments from the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set onto Lawn Fawn’s Ground Coffee cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s White Embossing Powered. I then die cut the embossed sentiment with one of MFT’s Stitched Sentiment Strips dies. I love how these two sentiments work together!
To add a few finishing touches, I went over the acorn top with a Nuvo’s Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer pen and then added a layer of Ranger’s Glossy Accents. I really like the shine this gives the card and feel like it helps balance the otherwise bottom heavy card. Lastly, I added a few Studio Katia’s Ripe Persimmon Pearls and Pretty Pink Posh’s Espresso Jewels around the card.
Thanks for spending some time with me today! I hope you have a wonderful day and stay safe!
