Hi Everyone,
If you are on the hunt for some fantastic mermaid stamps I think Whimsy Stamps has several super lovely ones. Today I’m featuring Whimsy Stamps’ Nerissa the Mermaid but some of my other favorites include: Naia the Mermaid, Let’s be Mermaids, and Elania.
Image
I stamped Nerissa onto a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock using Ink on 3’s Blackout Detail Ink and then embossed it with Hero Arts’ Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder. Next, I used a combination of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and Arteza Real Brush Pens to color her.
Glitter Background
For this card, I really wanted to use Gina K. Designs’ Turquoise Sea Glitz Glitter Gel so I taped down Whimsy Stamps’ Mermaid Scales Stencil to a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and applied a thin layer of Glitz Glitter Gel. Once the panel was dry I used a die from Hero Arts’ Nesting Oval Infinity Dies to cut the background down.
Sentiment
Since Nerissa the Mermaid stamp set doesn’t come with a sentiment I decided to used MFT’s Birdie Brown Greetings Galore stamp set which has many fantastic sentiments for all types of occasions. I wanted the sentiment to really pop so I stamped it onto black cardstock and heat embossed it with Lawn Fawn’s White Embossing Powder.
Assembly
For my card background, I selected two pattern papers from Authentique’s Sea-Maiden paper pack. The smaller pattern paper print I die cut with MFT’s A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 and adhered directly to the white card base. The second pattern paper I cut into a strip and adhered the glitter background to it and then popped up both with foam tape. I adhered the sentiment stripe directly to the glitter panel and then adhered the image on top.
At this point, I felt there was something missing so I created an orange strip using the same watercolor pens and adhered it to the left side of the focal panel. I think this added pop of orange really ties the entire card together.
I hope you enjoyed the card! Have a great day!
