Hi Crafty Friends!
I’m not sure about you, but, I’ve caught the summer bug and can’t wait for endless sunshine and warm days! With these thoughts in mind, I wanted to create a fun summer themed card using the super amazing Sunny Studio’s Fabulous Flamingos stamp set. This set is sooooo CUTE!
Images
Oh, my, goodness, it was too hard to pick which images to use so I didn’t and stamped them all! (Stay tuned for another cute card I made using this stamp set soon). For this card, I decided it would be fun to use the two flamingos facing each other along with some of the foliage and fruit from the stamp set. I colored all the images using Copic markers.
Background
For the background, I die cut a piece of white cardstock with W Plus 9’s Trellis Background 1 die and layered behind it a piece of patterned paper from Sunny Studio’s Summer Splash paper pack. For the focal panel, I die cut a tag using Sunny Studio’s Build-A-Tag #2 dies and inked blended the tag with Lawn Fawn: Fake Tan, Lemonade, and Freshly Cut Grass inks.
Sentiment
I wanted this to be an encouragement card, so I stamped two sentiments from Sunny Studio’s Fabulous Flamingos stamp set onto white cardstock using VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Once the ink dried I die cut “you’re” with Simon Says Stamp’s Sentiment Labels dies and then die cut the “flamazing” sentiment with MFT’s Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics. On both sentiments, I ink blended Lawn Fawn’s Lemonade ink over the entire die cut and then inked the edges with Lawn Fawn’s Fake Tan ink.
Finishing Touches
After adhering all the element flat to the card base it was time to add a bit of glitz and glamour to the card. To do so, I started by adding three Buttons Galore Love Hearts above the flamingos. Next, I used Nuvo’s Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer pen on the flamingo’s wings, the pineapple, and the watermelon. For a little extra sparkle, I added Spectrum Noir Sparkle in Crystal Clear to a few of the leaves. Finally, I added Glossy Accents to the flamingo’s beaks and I used a Memento Dual Marker in Tuxedo Black to add eyelashes to one of the flamingos.
Since you can’t see all the sparkle in these photos I’ll be sure to add a short video showing it on my Instagram post (@colorandinkdesigns).
I hope this card puts you in the summertime mood too! Thanks for stopping by!
