Hi Crafty Friends!
To create today’s card I used one of my favorite stamp sets Simon Says Stamp’s Beautiful Flowers. This set is gorgeous and besides featuring stunning floral images it also has many fantastic sentiments.
Card Design Inspiration
One of my favorite card designers, Yana Smakula, shared the technique of stamping images and then coloring the entire background using Copic markers. I decided to give this technique a try but instead of using a color marker I decided to use black for the background. I LOVE how it turned out!
Side note, if you haven’t checked out Yana’s blog or YouTube channel I highly recommend doing so she is amazing!
Image
I started by stamping the largest image from the set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White, 80 lb, cardstock with Ink on 3’s Blackout Detail Ink. I used the same image twice but changed the position so it appears different. Next, I colored the flowers using only two Copic markers per flower and I left the laves in uncolored – I love how the black and white leaves really pop!
Sentiment
Selecting the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from Simon Says Stamp’s Beautiful Flowers stamp set I heat embossed it with Lawn Fawn’s White Embossing Powder.
Finishing Touches
To add a bit of dimension to the flowers I use a Sakura Black Glaze Pen to add dots to the flower stamens. Lastly, I added a Studio Katia Onyx Crystal to the center of each flower and sprinkled a few more around the design panel.
Since you can’t see the crystals clearly in these photos I’ll add a short video showing them on my Instagram post (@colorandinkdesigns).
Thanks for stopping by!
